Details: It is noted that the incident happened at the Porubne-Siret checkpoint in the morning of December 23 at the entrance to Romania. Citizens of Ukraine aged 43 and 52 crossed the border on foot. After an additional check due to “reasonable suspicions”, it turned out that they had hidden $30,000 in cash in their shoes – a total of $60,000 – and were going to transport them without declaring.

The discovered money was confiscated as part of further investigative actions, and the women were fined 4,000 Romanian lei (over 39,000 hryvnias) each.
