“It is absolutely obvious for me, as for the Prime Minister of Poland, that I will always be very committed to transatlantic relations… And we have always accepted the leadership of the United States. It is absolutely natural,” Tusk said.
He emphasized that the United States will always play “the most important role” for Poland, particularly when it comes to security issues.
“And that is why it is so important for all of us, as well as for our partners in Washington, to understand the difference between dominance and leadership,” the Polish Prime Minister emphasized.
In his opinion, “leadership is normal”, while dominance can permanently damage the transatlantic relationship.
The Prime Minister of Poland stated that now is “one of the most critical moments in our relations with our partners, with our friends.”
Based on this, Tusk emphasized that “one of the most important things is preserving the unity of Europe.”
As reported by “European Truth”, during extraordinary meeting of the European Council on Thursdayon January 22, the issues of transatlantic relations, agreements with the President of the United States Donald Trump regarding the settlement of the situation around Greenland, his invitation of the EU to the Peace Council, as well as the peace settlement plan for Ukraine will be discussed.
In turn, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi announced in Davos trilateral negotiations Ukraine-USA-Russia in the United Arab Emirateswhich should take place on January 23-24.
