Details: The ministers discussed the bilateral and international agenda, peaceful process and the need for a complete ceasefire.

“Minister Fidan has just returned from Moscow and informed me in detail about what he heard and seen there. We discussed the steps that would bring peace for Ukraine closer,” the Foreign Minister said.

The ministers paid special attention to the safety issue in the Black Sea region, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted. “Ukraine and Turkey have a common position: the Black Sea must be a spacious peace, free trade and freedom of navigation,” Sibiga stressed.

Diplomats also discussed joint work on the implementation of agreements on the results of the first meeting of the Ukrainian-Turkish Working Group on Reconstruction. In addition, Sibiga expressed her special gratitude to Turkish President Recep Taiip Erdogan for his role in peaceful efforts.

“We appreciate that Turkey unconditionally supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, in particular the return of Crimea, as well as defends the rights of the Crimean Tatar people,” the minister said.

  • The Turkish Foreign Minister was a two -day visit to Moscow early this week, where he met with Russian leader Vladimir Putin and the main negotiator of the Russian Federation in the negotiations in Istanbul Vladimir Medinsky. Fidan also negotiated with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
  • On Wednesday, Russia said that she wants new talks with Ukraine in Istanbul on June 2.
  • At the same time, Kiev noted that in order to achieve the results at the meeting, they need to get acquainted with the Russian “Memorandum” in advance.
  • On Thursday, May 29, Erdogan urged Russia and Ukraine not to “close the door” for a dialogue before a probable meeting between representatives of both countries on Monday in Istanbul.
