Details: The ministry said an “air trail” approaching Turkish airspace over the Black Sea was detected and tracked as part of routine procedures.

“To ensure the safety of the airspace, our F-16 fighters, which are under the control of NATO and national forces, were taken into the air,” the statement said.
“It was established that the aerial trail belonged to an unmanned aerial vehicle that went out of control; in order to avoid negative consequences, it was shot down in a safe zone outside populated areas,” the agency said.
Turkish media reported that the drone was shot down over land and will only be identified after the wreckage is recovered.
The incident occurred against the background of increased attacks between warring Russia and Ukraine in the Black Sea.
It was previously reported that on November 28, two sanctioned tankers caught fire in the Black Sea off the coast of Turkey as a result of external strikes. “UP” sources in the SBU said that this was a special operation of the Security Service of Ukraine.
On December 2, it became known that another Russian tanker was attacked near the coast of Turkey. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan named these cases “alarming aggravation”.
On December 4, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey was summoned representatives of the embassies of Ukraine and Russia, to express concern over a series of attacks on Russian “shadow fleet” vessels in the Black Sea.
