At least six journalists were denied accreditation for Donald Trump’s campaign party in Florida. The reason for the refusal was their coverage of the events of the election campaign of the candidate from the Republican Party.

According to Voice of America, journalists from Axios, Politico and Puck were rejected.

In the case of Politico, three reporters and a photographer were initially allowed to attend the event, but their accreditation was later revoked. A source told VOA that the decision may have been related to the publication of a publication about a nationalist who worked in Trump’s headquarters in Pennsylvania and who was fired after his activities were covered.

Puck news website political correspondent Tara Palmer was also denied accreditation. Chris Lacivita, Trump’s co-chairman of the campaign, publicly confirmed the rejection, accusing it of bias, and wrote about it on the X platform.

“Palmery was denied access to Mar-a-Largo to cover election night because of her penchant for writing nonsense,” the report said.

In response, Palmeri confirmed the situation and said that she will now be broadcasting from Los Angeles for the Amazon program hosted by Brian Williams.

Axios reporter Sophia Tsai was also denied accreditation after her story about tensions in Trump’s headquarters in the run-up to the election. Editor-in-Chief Aja Whitaker-Moore endorsed Tsai, noting her professionalism and quality coverage of the 2024 presidential race.

Trump’s staff could not be reached for comment at the time of publication, although according to CNN, Voice of America journalists were among those denied accreditation. A VOA spokesperson later denied this information.

The US presidential election is the main thing

On November 5, the decisive stage of voting in the presidential elections began in the USA – at 7:00 a.m. local time (14:00 Kyiv time) polling stations opened in many states. In the last days before the election, the 60-year-old Democratic candidate Kamala Harris was slightly ahead of the 78-year-old Republican Donald Trump (48.8% for Harris, 47.5% for Trump according to average data from The Economist).

In 2024, the main battle will unfold in seven shaky” states: these are Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona and Nevada. It was on the struggle for support in these states that Donald Trump and Kamala Harris focused their efforts in the fall of 2024 — in particular, trying to win the votes of undecided voters in the last weeks before the election.

The first polls in the US will close at 6:00 PM ET on Tuesday night (01:00 Kyiv time), and the latter will close at 01:00 Eastern time early Wednesday (08:00 Kyiv time).

The preliminary results of the elections in the USA may be known as early as the morning of November 6, Kyiv time — around 6:00 a.m. Kyiv time, after polling stations in the western American states close. At the same time, the headquarters of Harris warned that it may take several days to determine the result.

The US Congress will officially approve the election results and announce the election of a new US president only on January 6, 2025.
