The decree signed by US President Donald Trump on the suspension of international aid for 90 days does not apply to military aid to Ukraine.
This was announced by the director of the Center for Combating Disinformation (CPD) Oleksandr Kovalenko.
“It’s all about other things,” he wrote.
It was previously reported that on January 20, Trump signed an executive order suspending all US foreign aid programs for 90 days to assess compliance with national interests and US foreign policy goals. It said at the time that it was not yet clear how much aid would be affected by the order, as Congress had already appropriated funding for many programs.
On December 30, 2024, the administration of former US President Joe Biden announced the allocation of almost $2.5 billion in military aid to Ukraine.
It was reported that the new aid package includes capabilities for immediate use on the front and long-term supplies of air defense systems, artillery and other critical weapons systems. According to Biden, the aid includes $1.25 billion for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and a package of measures within the framework of the Ukraine Security Promotion Initiative (USAI) in the amount of $1.22 billion.
