In a recent interview with ABC News, former U.S. President Donald Trump asserted that Iran’s new leadership would struggle to maintain power without the endorsement of the United States.
Trump stated, “If he doesn’t get our approval, he won’t last long. We want to make sure we don’t have to come back every ten years when you don’t have a president like me who will do this.” He expressed concerns about the potential for Iran to acquire nuclear weapons, emphasizing the need for a stable leadership that aligns with U.S. interests.
When asked whether he would support a leader with ties to the previous regime, Trump indicated he would consider it if it meant securing a competent leader. “There are many people who could fit the bill,” he remarked.
Trump also claimed that Iran had ambitions to dominate the Middle East, suggesting that his administration had successfully thwarted those plans. He has previously indicated that he does not prioritize democratic values or secularism in Iran’s governance, instead focusing on the new regime’s loyalty to the U.S. and Israel.
Additionally, Trump has called for Iran’s unconditional capitulation, underscoring his hardline stance on the nation.
Donald Trump emphasized the necessity of U.S. approval for Iran's new leadership to remain in power, reflecting his administration's approach to foreign policy in the region. He reiterated his concerns about Iran's nuclear ambitions and the need for a leader aligned with American interests.
