“Trump is making efforts for his controversial nominee, and is sending an unequivocal message to Senate Republicans that he is waiting for his confirmation,” the publication points out.
“He clearly wants Matt Goetz. He thinks Matt Goetz is the only person who will really have the fearlessness and the ferocity to do what needs to be done at the Department of Justice,” said Republican Sen. Kevin Cramer, who was called by Trump.
“One thing about Donald Trump: People should never mistake his support for one of his candidates as a tactical or strategic tool for someone else,” Cramer said.
“And he’s a pretty compelling guy,” Cramer noted.
Another senator also confirmed to Axios that Trump had reached out to them, urging them to rally around him.
Meanwhile, the U.S. House Ethics Committee is debating whether to release its report on Goetz’s sexual harassment allegations.

Several House lawmakers suggested that even if the House Ethics Committee does not release the report — and House Speaker Mike Johnson, a Republican, has advocated that the report remain sealed — it is likely that it will get to the press.
Goetz denies wrongdoing.
According to the publication’s calculations, “Goetz can lose only three votes to be approved in the hall.”
At the same time, the publication calls it unlikely that any of the Democrats will support the controversial lawmaker. Democratic Sen. Dick Durbin said Goetz is “the least qualified and most radical person ever to be nominated for attorney general.” The Florida Republican, who abruptly left his seat in the House of Representatives last week, will need to win over some lawmakers he has openly criticized in the past.
