Bloomberg writes that the possibility of Trump’s lifetime as the head of the “Peace Council” is another nuance in the creation of a landmark diplomatic initiative, which causes resistance from other G7 leaders.
What preceded:
- US President Donald Trump invited 49 states and the European Commission to the “Peace Council”.
- Earlier, the draft statute of the Peace Council was published in the mass media. According to this document, US President Donald Trump is going to demand a billion dollars from states that wish to be permanent members and will have the final say in all decisions of the Peace Council.
- Also in the White House declaredthat the executive board of this organization should include US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff, Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair – which is not an exhaustive list of members.
- For the first time, the idea of the Peace Council appeared in agreement on the cessation of hostilities in the Gaza Strip.
