U.S. President Donald Trump may be about three hours late for the Davos economic forum after an electrical problem on Air Force One, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said.

“I believe President Trump will be about three hours late,” Bessent told reporters when asked about the Air Force One delay.

Earlier it became known that the presidential plane on which Trump flew to Switzerland returned to the Andrews military base shortly after takeoff due to a “minor electrical problem.” Several lighting devices in the plane did not work. It was reported that Trump will fly to Switzerland on another plane.

The president and members of his cabinet are planning meetings with European leaders in Davos. The main topic of discussion is expected to be the issue of Greenland, which President Trump says the US should take control of for security reasons.

President Trump has repeatedly complained about the state of the Boeing-747 presidential plane, which has been used by presidents since the 1990s. Boeing received an order for two new presidential jets several years ago, but they are not expected to be delivered until the end of Donald Trump’s presidency.

Last spring, the Trump administration received a new Boeing-747 as a gift from the government of Qatar. But upgrading it for use as a presidential plane could take some time.
