“In the Administration of US President Donald Trump, there were discussions about the creation of a new group of countries called Core 5, which would include China and Russia and which would be an alternative to the existing G7 group.”, — write: www.pravda.com.ua

Details: The idea for the group reportedly appeared in a longer, unreleased version of the National Security Strategy that the White House released last week.
According to the publication, the strategy provided for the creation of a new group of leading world powers – C5 (Core 5): USA, China, Russia, India and Japan.
It was supposed to be the same informal club as the G7 (USA, Canada, Great Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Japan).
However, membership in such a union was not to be determined by the political system (G7 is a club of rich democracies), but only by the size of the population (over 100 million people) and economic potential.
Like the G7, the Core 5 should meet regularly to discuss global issues.
The theme of the first C5 summit was the normalization of relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia as the most important step towards stabilizing the Middle East.
At the same time, Trump team officials deny the existence of alternative versions of the document.
It will be recalled that the clause on Russia’s return to this format, which would make it a G8 again, appeared in the initial version of the “28-point peace plan” Trump’s team regarding Ukraine.
Chancellor of Germany Friedrich Merz rejected the possibility of return of Russia to the G7.
French President Emmanuel Macron expressed a similar point of view and noted that there are no prerequisites for re-accepting Russia.
In turn, the master of the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin, assures that his not interested in returning to the G7.
