Details: Florida Senator Marco Rubio, vice chairman of the Intelligence Committee, who is also a senior member of the International Relations Committee, will be nominated for the position of head of the State Department, that is, the US foreign policy department.

Details: Next year’s future secretary of state must be approved by Congress. At the same time, the publication emphasizes that given the choice made and the fact that Trump will have control in both boards, this personnel decision will not encounter problems.
Rubio voted for the 2024 aid package for Ukraine and insisted on the importance of supporting it, and even publicly criticized fellow party members for doubting the need to help Ukraine. Recently, he has somewhat changed his rhetoric regarding the ways to end the war, but remains in the more pro-Ukraine Republican camp.
Congressman Mike Waltz, also elected from Florida, is to become national security adviser.
Waltz, like Rubio, is known for his hawkish foreign policy views, which is significantly different from the public position of the president-elect. He is the son of Cuban immigrants who built his image on supporting the overthrow of authoritarian governments around the world.
As “European Truth” told, Waltz is a veteran of the US Army and the first “Green Beret” (served in the US Special Operations Forces) who was elected to Congress.
Waltz has experience working in the Pentagon as an adviser, and also worked in the defense sector as a manager of one of the contractors of the Ministry of Defense. In the House of Representatives, he is on the topic of confronting China and reducing dependence on Chinese resources, and is considered one of its fiercest critics in the Republican Party.
Despite his lack of experience working in the Trump administration, Waltz maintains a friendly relationship with him – not least because Waltz actively defends the former president during appearances on Fox News – and advises him on national security matters.
He is in favor of further support for Ukraine, but with an emphasis on controlling the spending of American taxpayers’ money.
