Trump’s direct speech: “The military is looking into the matter and we are looking at some very strong options. We will act decisively. It appears that people have been killed who should not have been killed.”

Details: According to sources, Trump has been briefed on various plans for military intervention in recent days. The presented options focus on neutralizing the Iranian security services, which the regime in Iran uses to suppress street protests.
In addition to a direct military strike, the White House is considering alternative methods of pressure. These include cyber operations against Iranian military facilities to disrupt security forces’ communications, as well as the introduction of new sanctions against Iran’s energy and banking sectors.
The possibility of providing uninterrupted communication to Iranians is discussed separately. Trump announced his intention to discuss with billionaire Elon Musk the provision of access to Starlink satellite internet to help protesters bypass government censorship.
However, the administration has concerns about the force scenario. Some advisers warn that the military strikes could backfire and cause the population to rally around the flag or provoke a large-scale military response from Tehran. More detailed briefings and discussions of further actions with the participation of senior national security officials are scheduled for Tuesday.
“If the US starts military action against Iran or the occupied territories, US military and transport centers will be considered legitimate targets. We will not limit ourselves to just reacting,” said Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baghera Kalibafa.
Asked by reporters how the United States would respond if Iran struck American military bases, Trump said: “We’re going to hit them with a force they’ve never faced before.”
Prehistory:
- Mass protests have been ongoing in Iran since the end of December 2025, which began due to the economic crisis and turned into an anti-government uprising. According to human rights defenders, the number of dead has already exceeded 500 people.
- January 11 Trump Iran publicly warnedthat the United States would “step in” and help the protesters win their freedom if the ayatollah’s regime resorted to deadly violence against the demonstrators.
