Trump asks the Supreme Court to stay the verdict in the porn star bribery case

“Trump’s urgent appeal came (to the Supreme Court – ed.) a day after the New York State Court of Appeals rejected his request to postpone his sentencing scheduled for Friday,” the report said.

Lawyers for the president-elect said the pause was necessary to “prevent grave injustice and harm to the institution of the presidency and the operation of the federal government.”

Trump’s request to the U.S. Supreme Court is unusual and likely to involve a complex legal battle while his criminal case is still pending in New York state courts.

As Ukrinform reported, on Tuesday, the New York appeals judge refused to postpone the announcement of the punishment for the president-elect, scheduled for Friday, in connection with his criminal indictment in the case of bribing a porn star.
