Details: Trump noted that there has been a transition to the next stage of the 20-point peace plan for Gaza, which was previously announced by the special envoy of the US president, Steve Witkoff.
Direct speech Trump: “As chairman of the Peace Council, I support the newly appointed Palestinian technocratic government, the National Gaza Management Committee, supported by the Council’s High Representative, to govern Gaza during the transition period. These Palestinian leaders are unwaveringly committed to a peaceful future!”
Details: Trump boasted that “since the ceasefire” his team has provided “a record amount of humanitarian aid” to Gaza.
According to him, “these results created the prerequisites for the next stage.”
Direct speech Trump: “With the support of Egypt, Turkey and Qatar, we will secure a comprehensive demilitarization agreement with Hamas, including the surrender of all weapons and the dismantling of all tunnels.
Hamas must immediately fulfill its obligations, including the return of the last body to Israel, and begin full demilitarization without delay.”
Details: Trump reminded that Hamas can do it “the easy way or the hard way”.
Direct speech Trump: “The people of Gaza have suffered long enough. The time has come.”
What preceded: Last December, Witkoff reported that representatives of the United States, Egypt, Qatar and Turkey met to assess the results of the first phase of the cease-fire in Gaza and to plan preparations for the second phase.
Let me remind youat: A cease-fire in the Gaza Strip officially began at noon on October 10, when the Israeli army said it had withdrawn troops to agreed deployment lines as part of a deal with Hamas to release all hostages held by the terrorist group.
In early December, Qatar said that negotiations on the US-backed ceasefire in the Gaza Strip were in a “critical” phase, and that the ceasefire was not being fully implemented by either side.
It was previously reported that the Palestinian Authority continues to pay cash aid to convicted terrorists and their families, despite official commitments to Great Britain and the European Union to stop this practice.
