Details: The Polish General Staff of the Armed Forces notes that “negotiations are ongoing with the Ukrainian side regarding the transfer of MIG-29 aircraft.”

Literally from the post of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces: “The transfer of the aircraft is connected with their reaching the final operational resource and the lack of prospects for their further modernization in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland. At the same time, we inform you that the final decision has not yet been made.”
Details: The Polish agency adds that the transfer of the planes will become an element of the allied policy of supporting Ukraine and ensuring the security of NATO’s eastern flank.
In Poland, F-16 and FA-50 aircraft will perform the tasks of the decommissioned MiG-29 aircraft.

The goal is not only compensation for the transferred equipment, but also, above all, the acquisition and joint development of new defense and industrial competencies.”
Prehistory:
- In July, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that Poland may consider transferring additional Soviet-style fighter jets to Ukraine if it can find a replacement for them together with its allies.
- Poland’s Defense Minister Władysław Kosyniak-Kamys later rejected President Volodymyr Zelenskyi’s calls to speed up the transfer of MiG-29s to Ukraine, citing the same argument.
- In September, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski said Warsaw could transfer additional MiG-29s to Ukraine, but that would depend on whether it had enough resources to defend its own skies.
- In October, Poland’s chargé d’affaires in Ukraine, Piotr Lukasiewicz, said Poland plans to transfer the rest of its MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine when it receives replacements from allies to bolster its own defense capabilities.
