The “new” ballistic missile launched by Russia over the Dnipro last week carried multiple unexploded warheads and struck “minor damage”. This was stated by two high-ranking sources in the Ukrainian government, Reuters reports.
According to one of the interlocutors of the agency, the rocket carried dummy warheads, which caused damage “quite insignificant”.
“In this case (rocket) was without explosives… There were no such explosions as we expected. There was something, but not very powerful,” a second source told Reuters.

Experts explain that the absence of explosives in the main part of the missile, which usually carries the warhead, may indicate the presence of instruments for performance testing. Such devices are used during tests of rocket technology. However, it is currently unknown whether the Russian rocket was equipped with such equipment.
“I would say it’s an incredibly expensive way to deliver something that probably won’t do much damage,” said expert Geoffrey Lewis.

The Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that on the morning of November 21, Russia launched an intercontinental ballistic missile over Ukraine from the Astrakhan region, it was flying towards the Dnipro.
On the same day, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin announced in an address that Russian troops attacked the Dnipro with the latest Oreshnyk medium-range system, about which there was no information before.
Subsequently, specialists of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense stated that the strike on November 21 could have been carried out “ballistic missile from the Kedr missile complex”. According to GUR, its tests took place in October 2023 and June 2024.
BILD expert on open data analysis Julian Röpke said that Russia struck the Dnipro on November 21 with a modification of the RS-26 Rubezh missile, which did not have a warhead.
