“The shelling of the border areas continues. Today, a number of settlements were affected, including: Yasna Polyana, Chernihiv region; Bezsalivka, Ryzhivka, Iskriskivshchyna, Budky, Rogizne, Doroshivka, Seredyna-Buda, Novoivanivka, Kucherivka, Golyshivske, Kharkivka, Bunyachyne, Tovstodubovo, Sorokyne of the Sumy region,” says the summary as of 4:00 p.m.
Almost half of the battles took place in the Pokrovsky direction in the Donetsk region.
“In the Pokrovsky direction, since the beginning of the day, the occupiers have made 32 attempts to dislodge our soldiers from their positions in the areas of Sofiyivka, Rodinsky, Myrnograd, Pokrovsk, Kotlyny, Udachny, Molodetsky, Novopidgorodny, Novopavlivka, Ivanivka, Filia, and Dachny. The defense forces are holding back the onslaught, 29 attacks have already been repelled,” the message stated.
Battles also continued in the North-Slobozhansk and Kursk, South-Slobozhansk, Kupyansk, Lymansk, Slavyansk, Kramatorsk, Kostiantynivsk, Oleksandrivsk, Gulyaipilsk and Orihiv directions.
On January 22, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, stated that the Defense Forces continue to restrain Russian troops in Pokrovsk and Myrnograd in Donetsk region, as small groups of the Russian Federation are trying to infiltrate the northern regions of both cities. He noted that as a result of the active assault actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, another attempt by the Russian invaders to seize these settlements was thwarted.
Fighting in Pokrovsk has been going on since October 2025, when the Russian army managed to break through to the city after several months of fighting on its slopes. Almost immediately, Russian soldiers began to be recorded in Pokrovsk’s satellite city of Mirnograd.
The Pokrovsky direction, according to the reports of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, constantly leads in terms of the number of Russian assaults.
