“In Pokrovsk, in the city itself, the situation is not developing, it is stable – there is no enemy there. We already had to counteract the information thrown into the network that it seems he went there. This is simply not true,” he said.
According to the military, “the enemy is trying to get hold of the area south of Pokrovsk in order to advance to the southwest of the settlement and cut the logistics routes.”
“What is happening in the settlements south of Pokrovsk. These are, for example, Elizavetivka, Promin, Lisivka, Zelene. There are constant battles, constant attempts of the enemy to get hold of this area, make a base with it and advance. Not even to Pokrovsk itself, but to the southwest of Pokrovsk, in order to cut the logistics routes. Mostly routes that go from the Dnipropetrovsk region. The Russians are currently far from this goal, but they are trying,” Tregubov informed.
He emphasized that “the efforts of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are focused on preventing the enemy from doing this.”
The other day, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said in an interview with Polish media that the most difficult situation on the front is in the east of Ukraine, where there is currently a large concentration of Russian troops and equipment, and where the Ukrainian military is smaller. The President added that there is a lack of aid at the front and, above all, it is not a question of the number of people – currently there are brigades that are staffed with 60-70% weapons due to the delay in the delivery of aid from Ukraine’s partners.
According to the observations of the Institute for the Study of War on January 13, Russian troops are cutting roads to the east and west of Pokrovsk in an attempt to surround the city.
The DeepState project and the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported that the Russian army in the first days of 2025 is actively capturing new territories to the south, southeast and east of Pokrovsk.
Viktor Tregubov, the spokesman of the Khortytsia operational-strategic group of troops, reported that Russian troops are trying to bypass the city of Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region in order to break logistical chains and take the city into an operational encirclement.
