Details: The day before, the American portal Defense One reported the existence of a non-public version of the National Security Strategy of the White House, which contains a more detailed description of the planned actions, in particular regarding the EU.
According to the media, in an unpublished version of the strategy, the US policy towards Europe should focus on cooperation with several countries “with the aim of turning them away” from the EU. The group of these countries included Poland, Austria, Hungary and Italy.
The unpublished version of the strategy also calls for the creation of a new international cooperation format called the Core 5 (C5), which would include the US, China, Russia, India and Japan – without the EU or any of its constituent countries.
A representative of the White House called reports about the existence of an expanded version of the National Security Strategy “fake news”.
“The president’s national security strategy, published on the White House website, has been approved by the president, passed to his cabinet, sent to departments and agencies, and given to Congress. There is no alternative, private or classified version,” she told PAP.
It will be recalled that on December 5, the USA published a new national security strategy. In it emphasizethat US policy toward Europe should focus on returning to strategic stability in relations with Russia, giving Europe greater responsibility for its own defense, and preventing further NATO expansion.
Europe reacted with criticism to the content of the document.
