British Defense Minister John Geely believes that support for Ukraine should be doubled, and the joint position of the five most militarily powerful states in Europe will help curb the expansion of Russian aggression.
“First of all, we discussed with Rustem Umyerov the necessity of doubling our support to Ukraine. Because the defense of Europe, the defense of Great Britain begins in Ukraine, and if Putin wins in Ukraine, he will not stop there. Because his goal is to destabilize democracies across our continent. Therefore, we will continue to strengthen our support for Ukraine,” he said.
The minister added that they, together with their allies, have already trained 50,000 Ukrainian troops, and reminded that last week Great Britain made further commitments to help Ukraine.

We will stand firm in the face of Putin’s threats and together we will be ready to restrain any expansion of Russian aggression,” the minister said.
Gilley also emphasized that Great Britain, Germany, France, Italy and Poland are responsible for more than a fifth of NATO’s total defense spending and for two-thirds of Europe’s defense spending in NATO.
According to him, these states are determined to increase spending on European defense, to link defense industries more closely and to ensure NATO’s decisive role in the face of global threats.
