The United States announced the allocation of a new package of military aid to Ukraine in the amount of 375 million dollars.
This was reported by the press service of the Pentagon on Wednesday, September 25.
According to the US Department of Defense, the aid package should provide Ukraine with additional capabilities to meet its urgent needs, including air-to-ground weapons, ammunition for missile systems and artillery, armored vehicles and anti-tank weapons.
The assistance package includes:
- ammunition class “air-ground”;
- ammunition for highly mobile artillery missile systems (HIMARS);
- 155-mm and 105-mm artillery ammunition;
- tube-launched missiles with optical tracking and wire guidance (TOW);
- Javelin and AT-4 anti-tank systems;
- armored guard vehicles M1117;
- MRAP armored cars;
- light tactical vehicles;
- small arms;
- patrol boats;
- minesweeping equipment and ammunition;
- spare parts, support equipment, as well as service, training and transport.
Earlier, Reuters reported that on Thursday, September 26, during President Volodymyr Zelenskyi’s visit to Washington, the United States will announce military aid to Ukraine in the amount of more than $8 billion.
As journalists note, the White House is conducting urgent negotiations with Congress to allow the use of $5.6 billion in military aid to Ukraine by September 30, the end of the federal fiscal year.
US military aid to Ukraine — what is known
According to the calculations of the US State Department, since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, Washington has given Ukraine more than $55 billion in military aid.
On September 6, the US Department of Defense announced that a new $250 million military aid package for Ukraine covers air defense missiles, ammunition for rocket systems and artillery, armored vehicles and anti-tank weapons.
On September 11, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced a new support package for Ukraine, which includes funding to help the Ukrainian energy system and humanitarian aid, the total amount of which exceeds $700 million.
