The states of the Quadrilateral Dialogue on Security Issues (USA, Australia, India, Japan) have declared that the use or threat of use of nuclear weapons by Russia is unacceptable.

Details: The states recalled that they stand for the observance of international law and respect for the principles of the UN Charter, including territorial integrity, the sovereignty of all states and the peaceful settlement of disputes.
“We express our deep concern about the ongoing war in Ukraine, including the terrible and tragic humanitarian consequences. Each of us has visited Ukraine since the beginning of the war and has seen it with our own eyes; we affirm the need for a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in accordance with international law, in accordance to the goals and principles of the UN Charter, including respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity,” the statement said.
The leaders noted the negative impact of the war in Ukraine on global food and energy security, especially for developing and least developed countries.
“In the context of this war, we share the opinion that the use or threat of use of nuclear weapons is unacceptable.
We emphasize the importance of compliance with international law and, in accordance with the UN Charter, reiterate that all states must refrain from the threat of force or its use against the territorial integrity, sovereignty or political independence of any state,” the leaders of the Quadripartite Security Dialogue emphasized.
The head of the Foreign Ministry, Andriy Sybiga, said the day before that, according to Ukrainian intelligence, Russia is preparing strikes on critical nuclear energy facilities of Ukraine on the eve of this winter.
It will be recalled that NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, who is leaving this position at the end of September, was skeptical of Vladimir Putin’s warning against the backdrop of discussions about allowing Ukraine to launch long-range strikes against Russia.
