Details: The head of the UN General Assembly, Annalena Burbok, noted that even in the “age of divisions” humanity can achieve mutual understanding with the help of sports.

Burbok added that all the principles needed for peace are revealed in sports – “discipline, self-restraint, respect”, as well as the ability to “see the opponent not as an enemy, but as a partner”.
The representative of Italy, the president of the “Milan-Cortini 2026” foundation Giovanni Malago, during the presentation of the resolution, said that “this is a certain alternative to rivalry and disagreements.”
Direct speech Malago: “Yes, of course, the Olympic Games are based on the principles of competition and the pursuit of excellence. But during the entire history of the Olympic Movement, we felt something more – our common human values that go beyond even the greatest sporting achievements.”
