Denmark, France, Greece, Panama, Sierra Leone, Slovenia, Somalia, the United Kingdom and the United States voted against Denmark. Guyana and South Korea abstained.

The publication states that if the resolution had been approved, it would have stopped the UN sanctions imposed on Iran before signing the Joint Comprehensive Action Plan (SVPD) in 2015, thereby maintaining the weakening of the restrictions given by Tehran under the Agreement.

The resolution, approved by the SVPD in July 2015, defined the process of abolishing the UN sanctions and establishing the mechanism of their return in the event of “significant failure” by any of the participants-China, France, Germany, Russia, the United Kingdom, the US, the EU and Iran (the so-called SNAPBACE mechanism).

According to the document, if one of the signatories informs the Radbez of a significant violation, the President of the RB must put the project of the resolution on the continuation of the sanctions weakening regime within 30 days. If the project does not pass, previous UN sanctions are automatically restored.

Contrary to Russia’s position, Barbara Woodword post -predizer was recalled that Snapback regime meets the requirements of the 2015 resolution. She quoted a message dated August 28, 2025, submitted by France, Germany and the United Kingdom: “Everything you need to launch Snapback is… a message of the State Party of the SVPD about the problem that, in her opinion, is a significant failure to fulfill the obligations for SVPD.”

Before voting, France emphasized the violation of the Iran nuclear program and restricting the IAEA access to key objects. Post -pre -Embrace Jamp Bonnaphon noted that the Islamic Republic has accumulated the reserves of enriched uranium, which significantly exceeds the limit provided by the agreement.

The following sanctions have been restored to Iran: embargo on weapons and military equipment; restrictions on nuclear activity; financial and banking prohibitions; restrictions on aviation and transport related to Iran and Iranian goods; sanctions against specific persons.

Recall: At the end of August, Britain, Germany and France, who are European guarantors of the Iranian “nuclear agreement”, were sent to the UN Security Council on the application of the mechanism of return of sanctions against Iran.

It happened against the backdrop of the lack of progress in negotiations with Tehran, from which Europeans demanded specific obligations to refuse to create nuclear weapons.

Three European states still have time by the end of next week to make an agreement with Iran about concessions that could prevent sanctions.

However, diplomats are currently considered unlikely, and French President Emmanuel Macron directly said that he was confident in the return of sanctions.
