The UN analyzed as civilians in frontline areas suffer from increased Russian attacks

Exacerbation of hostilities along the front line in Ukraine leads to the death and injuries of civilians, the destruction of critically important infrastructure, stopping the provision of basic services and new waves of movement of the population, said the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine.

It is reported that the elderly and people with disabilities suffer the most.

The mission estimated that in 2025, more than 60% of all killed and wounded among civilians were in frontline areas, mainly as a result of Russian artillery shelling, RSSV strikes, the use of airbombs and drones of the near action radius.

“July became the month with the highest losses of May 2022, with the majority of the dead and wounded among civilians were recorded in the frontline areas. Such a sharp growth is mainly associated with more intensive use of airbombs and drones of the near radius of action. July also distinguished himself as the largest number of casualties among civilians from the drones of nearby radius of action from the beginning of a full -scale invasion: 64 people were killed and 337 were injured. At the same time, the number of victims from airbombs has more than doubled compared to June – it increased from 114 to 276 people, ”the mission said.

The UN also noted that in villages and cities along the front line, it is increasingly difficult to access basic services, including pharmacies, medical care, public transport, education and utilities, and massive drones of drones lead to the fact that repair of damaged waterways or power lines is only possible.

“Increasing the attacks of the nearby radius of action and the approach of winter are exacerbated by fear and difficulties, disproportionately affecting the most vulnerable persons,” – said the MMPL Chairman Daniel Belle.

The UN mission says that August did not bring a relief of civilian population, because although the intensity of Russian shelling with the use of a long -range weapon decreased at the beginning, the victims among civilians near the front line remained significant.

“Yes, on Sunday, the village of Novoyakovlivka of Zaporizhzhya region, located about eight kilometers from the front line, was affected by air strikes, which resulted in a 15-year-old boy and six civilians were injured, including his parents and brothers with his sisters. Dalabial strikes recovered on August 18, which led to numerous casualties among civilians in Kharkiv, where, according to reports, seven people were killed and 23 were injured, including children, as well as in Zaporozhye, where, according to reports, three people were killed and 33 were injured, ”the statement said.

Russian military regularly from various weapons – UAVs, missiles, booths, RSSUs – attacked Ukrainian regions.

The Russian leadership denies that during a full -scale war, the Russian army causes purposeful strikes in the civilian infrastructure of cities and villages of Ukraine, killing civilian populations and destroying hospitals, schools, kindergartens, energy and water supply.

Ukrainian authorities and international organizations qualify these strikes as war crimes of the Russian Federation and emphasize that they are purposeful.
