The Southern District Military Court in the Russian Rostov-on-Don sentenced to 10 years the imprisonment of a resident of the occupied part of the Zaporozhye region Stanislav Rudenko in the case of terrorism. For the first three years he will be in prison, the rest in the colony of a strict regime, the court press service reports. The reason for criminal prosecution was his transfer in favor of the Ukrainian Azov Regiment.

According to the investigation, Rudenko, “dividing the ideology” of the Azov regiment, decided to assist the participants of the organization by financing their activities. On November 13, 2023, he saw an ad, then transferred money to buy drones. The prosecutor’s office specifies that the convicted person has sent about 5 thousand hryvnias.

The Azov Regiment in the spring of 2022 kept defense at the Azovstal plant in Mariupol for almost two months. In May, the defenders of Azovstal, more than two thousand people, surrendered. The regiment was created in 2014 as a volunteer formation, near its sources were activists of right views. Azov is now part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In August 2022, the Supreme Court of Russia recognized the Azov regiment with a terrorist organization.
