All this was translated in an almost eerily intuitive Swedish by Nils Hokanson.”– explained the choice of the prize jury.
The organizers of the award noted that the release of “Amadoka” in Swedish was an international breakthrough for the Ukrainian writer and “an important voice of Ukrainian literature in Europe.”
“It is very important that the award sheds light on Ukraine – the language, literature and living culture of the country, which continues to exist, speak and be visible even in difficult times.
I see this award as a gesture of attention and solidarity not only to me, but also to other artistic voices from my country.”– Sofiya Andruhovych commented on the victory.

The Stockholm International Literary Prize is awarded annually for an outstanding work translated into Swedish. Laureates receive an award of 75,000 Swedish crowns (172,500 hryvnias).
It will be recalled that this year the winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature was a Hungarian writer Laszlo Krasnohorkai.
