Vyacheslav Zinchenko, an extra in the case of the murder of the well-known public figure Iryna Farion, has been reclassified as a crime, and the court documents have been sent to the court.

Details: Now he is suspected of the intentional killing of a person in connection with the performance of his public duty on the grounds of national intolerance, and of illegal handling of weapons.
As the police established, in 2022, the suspect in the murder of Farion, an 18-year-old resident of the city of Dnipro, became a member of a group that promotes the cult of violence and cruelty, as well as racial, national and religious intolerance and discrimination, in one of the messengers. In addition, in 2024 he joined another group associated with a Russian neo-Nazi organization.
During his time in these groups, the suspect developed a personal dislike for Farion because of her active stance on the protection of the Ukrainian language and culture. According to the intruder, she split the national unity with her actions – because of this, he had an intention to kill her.
The police say that the suspect carefully prepared for the crime – collected confidential information about the place of residence and work of the victim, followed, and also developed a detailed plan to kill her and purchased firearms.
An intruder ambushed Iryna Farion on July 19 at around 19:20 in the yard of her house on Masaryka Street in Lviv. He approached the victim and shot her once in the head before running away. In a few hours, the public figure died in the hospital as a result of the gunshot wound.
On July 25, law enforcement officers located the fugitive and detained him.
Investigators of the Department of Investigation of Crimes Committed Against the Life and Health of a Person of the Investigative Department of the Lviv Oblast Police, under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, changed the classification of the crime and on December 25 sent the indictment to the court under the following articles:
– ch. 1 Art. 263 (Illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives)
– p. 8, 14 h. 2 Art. 115 (Deliberate killing of a person in connection with his performance of a public duty for reasons of national intolerance) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
He faces life imprisonment.

Prehistory:
- On the evening of July 19, 2024, an attempt was made on former People’s Deputy Iryna Farion in Lviv, it happened on Masaryk Street. Farion later died in hospital.
- On July 25, a suspect in the murder of public figure and linguist Iryna Farion was detained in Dnipro. The 18-year-old detainee is a resident of Dnipro. While preparing for the crime, he rented at least three apartments in Lviv. The investigation was inclined to the opinion that the shooter was only an executor.
- On July 26, the court arrested suspect Vyacheslav Zinchenko for 2 months without bail. After choosing a preventive measure, the young man told journalists that he did not kill the linguist.
- The defense of the injured party stated that they will insist on the requalification of the indictment, namely, the replacement of the first part of the article on intentional homicide with the second, which provides for the possibility of life imprisonment.
