The State Border Service does not exclude “demonstrative actions” in the direction of the Ukrainian border during the Russian-Belarusian military exercises and monitor the situation in Belarus. The spokesman of the State Tax Service of Ukraine Andriy Demchenko said this on the air of the telecast.

“If we talk about the announced joint training between Belarus and Russia, we are actively monitoring this to understand how many of its forces Russia can or plan to attract and where training will occur. There is preliminary information that they can be carried out more deeply in Belarus, when it comes to the direction of the border with Ukraine. It is difficult for me to say what it is related to. Perhaps there are some fears in Belarus, ”Demchenko said.

According to him, as of now, there is no active phase of these exercises. The SSSU spokesman also added that there are now no Russian shock groups in Belarus, which could pose a threat to Ukraine.

“For us, of course, the priority is to study the information we can get about the active phase of joint exercises, because it is at this time that the risk for our country can increase. You can not exclude any demonstrative action in the direction of our border. But our main task is to be prepared for the development of any situations, ”Demchenko said.

He stressed that Belarus continues to support Russia, and Russia does not reduce aggression against Ukraine, so Ukraine should continue to increase its defense capabilities along the border.

In September 2025, Russia and Belarus are going to hold joint military exercises in Belarus in Belarus. NATO, in particular in the Baltic countries (Belarus borders with Lithuania and Latvia), watching them closely, believing that Belarus can become a bridgehead for the Russian attack on the Baltic States and Poland.
