Literally: “Another 189 Ukrainians were released from captivity, SBU exclusive photos and videos.

This is the result of the work of the Joint Center for the Coordination of the Search and Release of Prisoners of War, which implemented the decision of the Coordination Staff on the Treatment of Prisoners of War.”

Details: Prokopenko specified that 11 servicemen of the 12th Azov special purpose brigade returned home from Russian captivity.

Prokopenko’s direct speech: “They went through extremely difficult ordeals that lasted almost 3 years. 86 days of defending Mariupol, hard battles at the limit of human capabilities, capture, prisons, interrogations, torture. They did not give up and came out of this hell as winners.”

Details: It also became known that Mariupol journalist Oleksandr Gudilin, who defended Ukraine in the ranks of the territorial defense, and former Espresso journalist Roman Borshch were released from captivity.

Zelensky showed the first meeting of the fighters with their relatives and friends after being released from captivity.

What preceded:

As a result of the new exchange of prisoners of war, on Monday, December 30, Ukraine returned 189 of its defenders. The eleventh exchange in 2024 made it possible to release: 87 servicemen of the Armed Forces (of which 17 are from the Military Academy), 43 from the NSU, 33 from the DPSU, 24 from the Navy. Two civilians also returned from captivity.
