In Zaporizhzhia, the SBU exposed two local residents “who, on behalf of Russian military intelligence, were preparing coordinates for airstrikes on military and critical infrastructure facilities in the region,” the agency’s press service said in a statement.

It is known that “air defense systems, deployment points of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and enterprises of the defense-industrial complex were among the priority targets of the enemy. In the area of interest there were also routes for transporting Ukrainian weapons and ammunition to the front line.”

“One of the agents turned out to be an employee of the Zaporizhia Strategic Defense Plant. The woman gave the Russians information about the location of workshops where military products are produced, and also reported on missile damage to the enterprise where she worked. The law enforcement officers detained another figure “red handed” when he was spying on units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine based in Zaporizhzhia,” the SBU says.

The department clarified that “the man not only went around the city to gather intelligence, but also “secretly” asked for the necessary information during everyday conversations with acquaintances.”

“As a result of the searches, mobile phones and computer equipment with evidence of work in the Russian Federation were found in the possession of enemy henchmen. The investigators announced that the detainees were suspected under Part 2 of Art. 111 (treason committed under martial law) and Part 3 of Art. 114-2 (unauthorized dissemination of information about the movement, movement or location of the Armed Forces) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine,” the SBU emphasized.

It is also known that the suspects are currently in custody without bail. They face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Earlier, the law enforcement officers reported the suspicion of collaborative activities to Oleksandr Shtekhbart, appointed by the Russian authorities of the occupied Crimea, the commissioner for human rights on the peninsula. According to the SBU, his actions “facilitate the implementation of the policy of the Russian government and ensure its activities on the temporarily occupied peninsula.”
