The Security Service of Ukraine reported that they had prevented a terrorist attack in Odessa, which was prepared for the task of the FSB of Russia, according to the press service of the department.

“The hostile agent planned to blow up the Ukrainian military,” the SBU noted.

According to the intelligence service, the 31-year-old resident of the region was supposed to lay explosives with fragmentary elements in a residential area near the playground.

The SBU noted that the man was detained “on hot” – immediately after he laid a homemade explosive device at the site of a future attempt.

The investigation found that the agent was recruited through pro-Russian telegrams, where he was offered “light money”. At first he set fire to a military car, after which he received instructions for a terrorist attack, they say in the press service.

“The purpose of the attack was a Ukrainian officer. The explosive was planned to activate remotely through a mobile phone, ”the SBU said.

Earlier, the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine warned on June 2 that the Russian special services intensified attempts to recruit citizens of Ukraine in order to involve them in illegal activities in the territory of the European Union.
