The court obliged to ensure the right to fulfill his parliamentary duties to the People’s Deputy of Ukraine Nestor Shufrych, who is suspected of treason.
People’s Deputy Oleksiy Goncharenko reported this and the Security Service of Ukraine confirmed it to Ukrainian Pravda.
The court ruled that Shufrych is allowed to perform deputy duties, but without physical presence in the session hall of the Verkhovna Rada.
The SBU noted that Shufrych will remain in the pre-trial detention center, but will be able to perform certain duties of a deputy in isolation. For example, he will be allowed to prepare and send written appeals and requests.
As Goncharenko explained, according to the law, a people’s deputy can vote only in the session hall, so Shufrych will not take part in the vote. At the same time, he can participate in Committee meetings online or submit draft laws and resolutions through assistants.
On December 27, the Shevchenkiv District Court ordered the Security Service of Ukraine to ensure that People’s Deputy Nestor Shufrych fulfills his parliamentary powers.
Earlier, former deputy of the People’s Republic of Ukraine Ihor Mosiychuk, whose channel on the TikTok social network was included in the list of harmful by the cyber department of the Security Service of Ukraine, wrote about the alleged “the death of Shufrych in prison”, but later he himself denied this information.
The Prosecutor General’s Office reported that the information about the death of the people’s deputy is not true.
The case of Nestor Shufrych
On September 15, 2023, the SBU searched People’s Deputy Nestor Shufrych, elected from the already banned pro-Russian party OPZZH.
According to law enforcement officers, St. George ribbons, medals and coats of the armed forces of the Russian Federation were found at his home, as well as “document” with a scheme “autonomy” for the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, which, in particular, had the signature of Putin’s godfather Viktor Medvedchuk.
Shufrych was informed of the suspicion of treason. On the same day, the Pechersk District Court sent the people’s deputy under arrest for two months without bail. He is in custody.
According to journalist Yuriy Butusov, Shufrych is involved in the case of a Russian spy network created by Volodymyr Sivkovich, an employee of the FSB of the Russian Federation, former deputy of the People’s Republic of Ukraine and deputy secretary of the National Security Council in 2010-2013.
The SBU confirmed that, according to the investigation materials, Shufrych worked closely with Sivkovich and carried out his tasks, in particular, engaged in “subversive activity in the information sphere”.
In February, Shufrych was informed of a new suspicion due to the financing of the Russian Guard in Crimea.
In July 2022, the SBI notified Volodymyr Sivkovich of suspicion of treason. UP reported that Sivkovich, who is hiding in Russia, was preparing to become “manager” of the fake occupation “authority” after the start of a full-scale invasion.
