Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets reported on another crime committed by the Russians – the brutal show execution of an unarmed Ukrainian prisoner of war.

Direct speech of the ombudsman: “Another war crime – the Russians executed an unarmed Ukrainian prisoner of war with a sword with his hands bound with tape. The level of barbarism and bloodthirstiness is unfathomable.”
Details: He emphasized that such actions are a gross violation of the Geneva Convention on the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
Lubinets said that he sent letters to international organizations, the ICRC and the UN, so that they record another violation of human rights by Russia.
On the morning of September 17, a photo of the executed Ukrainian soldier appeared on social networks. The soldier was stabbed with a sword on which “For Kursk” is written. Gray tape is visible on the soldier’s hand, probably his hands were tied before the execution.
In the photo, a bloodied body is lying on the road against the background of damaged equipment and a house with broken windows. It is not known exactly where it happened.
Prehistory:
- In June, the Prosecutor General’s Office reported that the occupiers had beheaded a serviceman of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Donetsk region, and Ukrainian prosecutors began an investigation.
- During aerial reconnaissance at one of the combat positions in the Donetsk region, the Ukrainian military discovered a damaged armored vehicle of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. On it lay the severed head of a Ukrainian defender.
- On June 19, Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin reported that the identity of the soldier who was beheaded by the occupiers in Donetsk region was established, and the Russian commanders responsible for the war crime were also identified.
- In August, Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets urgently appealed to the International Committee of the Red Cross and the UN, as well as to Ukrainian law enforcement agencies due to the appearance on the Internet of a photo, probably of the body of a Ukrainian prisoner whose head and limbs had been cut off by the Russians.
