In December, Ukrainian military intelligence staged his death, wanted by Russia, and this operation became known in January. In the correspondence, Volkov was happy about the “death” of Kapustin.

“In a certain sense, denazification really happened. The Nazi, whose existence was a gift for Kremlin propaganda, died,” he wrote.

He also called the then head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense, Kirill Budanov, “a disgusting provincial political technologist.”

“I hope that Kapustin’s friends will follow him. (Andriy) Yermak will be imprisoned, (Mykhailo) Podolyak will be imprisoned, Budanov will be imprisoned, and all other propagandists and hypocrites will be imprisoned. And then Ukraine will have a chance to win. But as long as it is built on cabbage, no one will look at it,” he said.

After these messages were published, Volkov apologized for the letter, which he called “emotional and sharp”, and repeated that he condemned “neo-Nazis”.

On Tuesday, January 6, the Migration Service of Lithuania contacted the State Security Service of the country for additional “consultation regarding a possible threat to state security and asked to evaluate the foreigner’s statements that appeared in public access.”

The Lithuanian Law on the Legal Status of Foreigners stipulates that a temporary residence permit may be revoked if a foreigner’s stay in the country poses a threat to state security, public order or people’s health. The head of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Remigijus Motuzas, said that after evaluating Volkov’s statements, the country’s services should decide whether he can continue to stay in Lithuania.

“We will consult with the National Security Committee and other bodies. I believe that this should really be done, and only after that a final decision should be made on whether Volkov can live in Lithuania, in the European Union or not,” he said.

And the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Kästutis Budris, in turn, noted that persons who do not support the sovereignty, territorial integrity and defense needs of Ukraine “have direct consequences for the national security of the Republic of Lithuania.”

“Lithuanian citizens, and especially foreign citizens living in Lithuania with one or another status, who have a residence permit in Lithuania or asylum, are expected to show due respect and support for the main provisions of Lithuania’s national security,” he added.

What happened before:

  • Recently, a soldier who was a member of the “Wagner” PMK and who illegally crossed the Finnish border was deported from Finland.
