The Russian Federation is setting up serial production of aerial bombs with a range of up to 200 km – GUR

Vlad Cherevko I have been interested in various types of electronics and technologies since the early 2000s. I like to play computer games and understand the operation of various gadgets. I regularly follow the news of the technology world and write materials about it myself.

The Russians have stepped up work on increasing the number of aerial bombs and are introducing new unified control modules for them, which increase the range of ammunition use to 200 km.

This was announced by the deputy head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Vadym Skibitskyi, RBC-Ukraine reports.

According to him, Russian engineers have improved the so-called universal planning and correction modules (UMPK), which are installed on conventional aerial bombs weighing 250, 500, 1,500 and 3,000 kg, which gives them controllability and significantly increases the radius of their use.

Skibitskyi added that during September-October, the Russian Federation developed and is now using air bombs with new control modules in combat tests. He stated that during one of the last tests the bombs reached a distance of 193 km.

The representative of the GUR also emphasized that the new ammunition has increased resistance to radio-electronic warfare systems and technical solutions that allow striking at a greater distance. According to him, nand the enterprises of the Russian Federation have already started serial production of such complexes, which receive names like “Thunder-1” and “Thunder-2”.

By the way, today, October 20, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced that Russian troops launched at least two guided aerial bombs over the Poltava region for the first time. According to their data, the launches were carried out from the territory of the Kharkiv region.

As “Militaryny” reported, the ammunition fell 20-30 km from Poltava. Probably, modified bombs of the type UMPB-5R or “Grom-E1/E2” were used, which covered approximately 120 km.
