The Russian Federation has been recruited to war since the beginning of 2025 more than 900 citizens of Uzbekistan – “I want to live”

Since the beginning of 2025, the Russian Ministry of Defense has recruited 902 citizens of Uzbekistan to participate in the war against Ukraine, reports the Ukrainian state project “I want to live”.

According to him, migrants from Uzbekistan are “lured under the pretext of high -paying work” on construction or in the rear units of the army. One of the main incentives is the promise of Russian citizenship.

“Those who serve sentence in Russian prisons are forced to participate in the war because of threats and psychological pressure,” the message reads.

In the Ukrainian captivity, citizens of 33 countries are in the project, and Uzbekistan ranks first in the number of foreign prisoners of war.

In April 2025, the project published the names of 1110 Uzbekistan citizens who signed a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense.
