The Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mykhailo Mishustin signed a decree according to which prisoners who signed a contract with the Russian military department will not be able to count on one-time payments. The resolution is published on the official portal of legal information.

“Determine that one-time cash payments are not made to citizens of the Russian Federation who, on the day of signing the contract for military service in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, were serving a prison sentence,” the document says.

The resolution enters into force on January 1, 2025.

In November 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin approved one-time payments to those who sign a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense during the war. In July 2024, the amount of payments to persons who entered into a contract was increased to 400,000 rubles.

In Russian regions, the local payment is added to the state payment, which can reach several million rubles. These regional payments do not apply to prisoners, but to persons who come to military commissariats voluntarily.
