“The discovery of this category will allow those who survived the uncertainty about the fate of their loved ones, seek compensation for moral suffering and mental pain,” the message said.
Parents, children, the second spouse or civil partner/partner of persons who have disappeared as a result of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, starting from February 24, 2022, can file such a statement. Other family members also have the right to apply in this category if they can prove a close relationship with the missing person.
The applicants will have to provide information about their identity, the disappeared person, the affinity with the missing family member, as well as the event that led to the disappearance.
Currently, applications can only be submitted for persons whose information is entered in the Unified Register of Persons missing in special circumstances in Ukraine. Applications to the Register can be submitted through “action”. The instruction is posted on the registry website in English and Ukrainian.
Category A2.2 has become the third category opened for submission of applications to the Register, and the launch of new categories is expected to launch.
Recall:
- By this time, the register has accepted applications for the first two categories – regarding the death of a close member of the family and on damage or destruction of housing.
- The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine expects that by the end of 2025 the International Register of Damage caused by aggression of the Russian Federation will be possible to apply for all categories.
