“Prosecutor General Kravchenko explained that changing the NABU detective’s preventive measure is not his excuse. The SBU is handling the case.”, — write: www.pravda.com.ua

Kravchenko’s direct speech: “In the last few days, I have seen a wave of manipulation addressed both to the Prosecutor General’s Office and to me personally. I see attempts to create hysteria, to pressure through public noise, to impose my own assessments where only the law should speak. I will say frankly: the prosecutor’s office does not work under pressure. And it will not.”

Details: Kravchenko, without naming names, called the criminal proceedings against the NABU detective and his father “hysteria” and outlined the facts about this case.
According to him, the criminal proceedings were registered by the Security Service of Ukraine, based on materials collected by operatives. The prosecutors recognized the evidence collected by the investigators as sufficient to report the suspicion of aiding the aggressor state and abuse of influence.
“This decision was not made in social networks. And not in the offices of “public figures”. But in the framework of the criminal process,” said the head of the OGP.
Then Kravechenko said that after the notification of suspicion, the investigating judge chose a preventive measure for them – detention.
He noted that 5 months of investigation gave the investigators of the SBU and SBU interdepartmental group the opportunity to carry out a significant amount of work: interrogate key witnesses, collect and secure important evidence.
As a result, Kravchenko said, “the probability of obstruction of the investigation by the suspects has significantly decreased, which became the basis for the prosecutors to appeal to the court to soften the previously chosen preventive measure.”
“I explain once again: changing the pretrial detention is not an exoneration of the suspects. The investigation is ongoing, and only after its completion will the court establish who is guilty and who is not,” he emphasized.
He also called the statement that “the OGP took the criminal proceedings from the SBU and transferred them to another investigative body” a “myth”.
“There was no decision to change the body of the pre-trial investigation and there will not be any. The materials are required to assess the state of the pre-trial investigation, as is the case in thousands of other proceedings. The materials are currently being studied and will be returned to the Security Service after completion,” said the Prosecutor General.
At the same time, Kravchenko recognized an agreement with a people’s deputy from the banned OPZZ party as part of the case.
“Yes, there is an agreement. No, it cannot be made public now – it contains data related to the suspect’s safety and national security issues. But I will say one thing clearly: the agreement does not mention the leadership of anti-corruption agencies. It has no connection with the Midas operation. The facts reflected in it took place long before any current events”, – assured the supervisory agency
Kravchenko believes that the “accusations” towards the prosecutors by the defendants and suspects in criminal proceedings are “pressure, manipulation and an attempt to intimidate”.
But I promised: I will be where it is difficult. And I will keep this promise. My position is simple: prosecutors follow the law; the court establishes guilt or innocence; and social networks are not a platform for blackmailing the law enforcement and judicial systems,” he said.
The Prosecutor General, however, assured that he is open to dialogue, but “not to attempts to direct the investigation through posts on Facebook.”
