Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Petr Fiala spoke with the US President-elect Donald Trump about bilateral relations, as well as the situation in the Middle East and the war in Ukraine.
Source: Fiala told journalists the details of the conversation on the sidelines of the SOR29 climate summit in Baku, reports “Evropeyska Pravda” with reference to ČTK
Details: According to Fiala, the conversation with Trump “surprised me in two moments.”
“There was a really open discussion. Donald Trump asked me about my views on the Ukrainian-Russian conflict and its solution. I was also surprised by the cordiality and friendliness of the conversation,” he shared.
The Czech Prime Minister also added that Trump mentioned his personal ties with the Czech Republic and spoke well of his relations with the country.
Asked if Trump, who has previously promised to end Russia’s war against Ukraine before his inauguration, had shared any details of his plan, Fiala declined to discuss the details of the conversation, but expressed confidence that everyone would say what they wanted to say publicly.
“Of course, dealing with Russian aggression in Ukraine, dealing with this situation will not be easy, I think we all know that,” Fiala said.
Donald Trump, who was elected the next president of the United States, has already had phone conversations with a number of world leaders.
Last week, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that he had “great” first phone conversation with Trump after his re-election.
But Kyiv and its allies fear that the US could wind down its military support after the Republican takes office in January. In particular, in Kyiv, they believe that with the victory of Donald Trump in the elections in the USA the chances of inviting Ukraine to NATO have decreased.
