Fitzo, like his Hungarian colleague Viktor Orban, has long criticized the EU sanctions against Russia for its continued aggression against Ukraine and military assistance to Kiev. After coming to power of the last year, the current government of Fitzo decided to stop the supply of weapons and military equipment from government reserves to Ukraine, but allowed to continue commercial deliveries.
“If the EU spent as much energy on peace as it spends to support the war in Ukraine, the war could be finished for a long time. I would never be the prime minister of wartime,” said the Prime Minister of Slovakia.
