The price of cabbage will increase significantly due to a bad harvest

Due to difficult weather conditions, the prices of cabbage in Ukraine will increase this year, as the heat prevented the normal growth of the crop. The high prices of vegetables are also due to other factors, in particular, the lack of labor due to the war and the increase in the price of fertilizers and plant protection products on the world market.

Now we see that there is a problem with cabbage. I think that in the future it will be even more expensive. Just yesterday I spoke with one of my clients from the south of Ukraine, they grow cabbage, beets, carrots and onions. He says that the situation with carrots is not so bad for them this year, with onions it is good, but with cabbage the situation is simply catastrophic

According to him, the cabbage simply could not grow properly due to the heat. He believes that high prices for domestic vegetables will not last long – until overproduction begins. It is worth noting that the increase in prices was influenced not only by weather conditions, but also by a number of other factors.

“We must realize that the prices are “golden” not only because of weather conditions. First of all, we should not forget that there is a war in the country – we do not have enough human resources to work in agriculture. The next factor is the global increase in the price of plant protection products and fertilizers. It was also caused by the war in Ukraine. But we will come to a situation when vegetables will be a little cheaper or very cheap, and we need to think about what to do next,” the expert added.

The deputy chairman of the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council, Denys Marchuk, said that the summer heat affected the harvest, which is why vegetable prices are rising. The only thing that can stop further growth is the presence of imported products.
