Slovak President Peter Pellegrini rejected the appeals of all four citizens who planned to join the Ukrainian army.

This is reported by TASR with reference to the statement of the head of state’s office.

Serving in a foreign army without the consent of the president in Slovakia is a criminal offense punishable by prison. At the same time, one of the rejected requests was submitted to his predecessor Zuzana Chaputova, but she did not have time to consider it. She herself issued several such permits.

Before the second round of elections, billboards with Pellegrini’s portrait and the inscription: “Slovakia will not send a single soldier to Ukraine” appeared all over Slovakia.

At the same time, on November 2, the President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel allowed 60 citizens of the country to join the ranks of the Ukrainian army. Without the permission of the president, the participants of hostilities abroad in the Czech Republic could face criminal punishment.
