The National Police of Ukraine reported on more than 600 simultaneous searches across the country in the case of organizing illegal channels for transporting men of military age across the border.

As the press service of the police reported on January 10, “this is only the first stage of a special operation” to block the channels for the export of men abroad.

“We are talking about organizers and members of groups that help men cross the border by bypassing official checkpoints. According to the available data, these routes helped hundreds of conscripts to cross. The measures are ongoing in all regions of Ukraine,” the message reads.

The police did not give details, noting that the details of the special operation will be made public after the completion of all investigative actions.

Earlier this week, the State Bureau of Investigation announced that during 2024 it had exposed 120 officials in connection with the illegal smuggling of people across the border. Last year, the SBI reportedly investigated 287 such criminal proceedings.

After the start of the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, martial law was introduced and general mobilization was announced. Most men between the ages of 18 and 60 are prohibited from traveling abroad.
