The police searched for the second lioness who escaped from the rehabilitation center for wild animals in Khmelnytskyi on Saturday.

Details: On Saturday, the police received a report about the escape of two lionesses from the enclosures of a local zoo. Other animals died as a result of the incident. One of the lionesses managed to return to the enclosure, the other ran outside the territory.

After receiving orientation, the patrolmen, together with colleagues from other units, immediately began searching the surrounding area. Soon one of the crews found the lioness near the place of escape.

The patrol police noted that the animal is being returned to the place of detention.

According to the fact of the event, the investigators started a pre-trial investigation under Part 1 of Article 299 (Cruel treatment of animals) of the Criminal Code and establish all the circumstances.

The Khmelnytskyi police clarified that the found lioness was put into a medicated sleep and transported to a safe place.
