In the Kirovohrad region, the police arrested the organizer of the embezzlement scam, who defrauded the mother of a dead soldier of UAH 1.1 million.

Details: According to the investigation, the organizer of the scheme is a 46-year-old resident of the Kirovohrad region.
The pre-trial investigation established that the mother of Hero, who defended Maryinka and died in December 2022, began receiving payments related to the loss of her son.
The detainee, taking advantage of the woman’s vulnerable state, convinced her that he was the one who accelerated state payments, as well as the need to provide part of the funds to help the Armed Forces.
In this way, he took possession of the victim’s money, in the amount of more than 1 million hryvnias.
On September 17, the law enforcement officers exposed the thief “red handed” while receiving the next part of the “earnings” in the amount of 300,000 hryvnias, which was found in his car.
During a series of authorized searches at the places of residence and stay of the suspect, law enforcement officers discovered a forged certificate in the fictitious name of a lieutenant colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, documents, bank cards, mobile phones and “draft” records.
The man was detained, in the near future he will be notified of the suspicion of fraud on a particularly large scale and a preventive measure will be chosen.
