“Attention, in connection with the mass attack of the Russian Federation, which is striking with cruise missiles, ballistic missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles on objects located, in particular, in the west of Ukraine, the exploitation of Polish and allied aviation in our airspace has begun.” – reports the Operational Command of the Armed Forces of Poland.
The communiqué also notes that these decisions are aimed at ensuring security in areas bordering threatened areas.
“The operational command is monitoring the current situation, and the subordinate forces and means remain in full readiness for an immediate response,” the message says.
A series of explosions rang out on Sunday morning in Kyiv during a massive Russian missile attack on targets in Ukraine.
According to the mayor of Kyiv Vitaliy Klychko, a fire broke out in the central part of the city as a result of the shelling. It was caused by shrapnel from a downed missile. Two people were injured.
Explosions also occurred in Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, Cherkassy and other Ukrainian cities.
The Russians are attacking Ukraine, in particular, with Kinzhal hypersonic missiles and air-launched cruise missiles, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said.
This is not the first time that Poland raises planes because of Russian attacks on Ukraine.
It will be recalled that earlier the Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Radosław Sikorski, stated that Poland and other countries bordering Ukraine are “obliged” to shoot down Russian missiles before they enter their airspace.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland specified that Radoslav Sikorsky expressed his opinion, not the position of the government.
