Details: Instead of a one-time exit, the Pentagon intends to simply not replace personnel after their tours end — a process that could take years, two U.S. officials said. At the same time, the participation of the USA in the work of the centers does not stop completely.
Some officials noted that the cuts will affect, in particular, advisory structures dealing with the Alliance’s energy security and maritime operations.
The US will also reduce its participation in official NATO structures related to special operations and intelligence, two sources said, although one of them clarified that some American functions will be redistributed within the Alliance, which will limit the scope of the consequences.
